IP & Trademark Registration

Trademark, patent, and industrial-design registration with the Iranian IP Office and enforcement against infringers.

Iran is a member of the Paris Convention, the Madrid Protocol, and the Patent Cooperation Treaty — but enforcement still requires local registration and an Iranian agent of record. We secure that registration, monitor for infringement, and litigate when needed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does a Madrid designation cover Iran?+

Yes. Iran joined the Madrid Protocol in 2003. We recommend a parallel national filing for marks with significant enforcement risk, to shorten enforcement timelines.

How long does a trademark registration take?+

Six to twelve months for an uncontested mark, including publication and opposition periods. Office actions extend the timeline.

Can you record IP at customs to stop counterfeit imports?+

Yes. Customs recordal is administered by the Iranian Customs Administration and enables border seizure of suspected counterfeit shipments. We manage the recordal and the seizure follow-up.

What about copyright?+

Iran is not a Berne signatory, but copyright protection is available under the 1970 Copyright Law for works first published in Iran. We register software, audiovisual, and literary works locally.
