Agribusiness Land Leasing

Long-term land leasing, water-rights structuring, and agribusiness JV setup with Iranian Agricultural Jihad authorities.

Advisory team reviewing documents over Tehran skyline at dusk

Iran has more than 18 million hectares of arable land and a long history of partnering with foreign agribusiness on contract farming, dairy, and protected-cropping projects. The Ministry of Agriculture Jihad allocates state-owned land under long-term leases, often in conjunction with provincial water-allocation decisions. We structure the lease, the water rights, and the JV that operates the land.

Lease Iranian Agricultural Land

Combine long-term land tenure, secured water, and a competent local operator under one structure.

Iranian agribusiness

Long-term land, secured water, and an operator that can deliver

Iran combines 18 million hectares of arable land with strong agro-climatic diversity. The Ministry of Agriculture Jihad allocates state land under long-term lease, paired with water allocations from the Ministry of Energy. The hard part is securing all three pieces — land, water, and an operator — in one structure that can actually plant a crop.

Agro-climatic fit

We match crop, latitude, and soil class to candidate parcels before negotiating tenure — there is no point securing land that cannot grow what you sell.

Secured water

Water rights are the binding constraint. We negotiate volumetric allocations with provincial water boards and design irrigation that survives drought-year cuts.

Operator JV

Long-term lease combined with a JV with an Iranian agribusiness operator who can manage the field workforce day-to-day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can foreign entities hold a lease directly?+

In practice, leases are held by the Iranian operating company, which can be majority foreign-owned. FIPPA registration protects the inbound capital used to build infrastructure.

How secure are water allocations?+

Allocations are documented but subject to drought-year reductions. We size irrigation infrastructure and crop mix for the dry-year scenario, not the average year.

Are there export restrictions on agricultural produce?+

Strategic crops (wheat, rice, sugar) are subject to export restrictions when domestic supply is constrained. Horticulture, dairy, and protein products generally export freely under standard licensing.

What about subsidised inputs?+

Fertiliser and seed allocations from state cooperatives are available to registered agribusiness operators. We register the operating company in the relevant cooperative at setup.
