THRAN- The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced that the inflation rate for the 12-month period ended on the last day of the sixth Iranian calendar month of Shahrivar (September 22) compared to the same period in the previous year hit 9.9 percent, Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.

It is while the Statistical Center of Iran had previously put the inflation rate for the 12-month period at eight percent.

The center has put the country’s inflation rate at 9.8 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1395 (ended on March 20), showing 4.5 percent drop from its preceding year.

It is while the CBI has put the country’s inflation rate at nine percent during the past calendar year.

Iran, accordingly, could manage to experience a single-digit inflation rate after 26 years in 1395.

Curbing inflation was one of the major promises by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during his presidential campaign. Under the previous administration, inflation skyrocketed to cross 44%.

In a meeting with ICCIMA Head Gholam-Hossein Shafeie, who paid a visit to Spain leading a trade delegation, García-Legaz said: “We have bravely commenced cooperating with Iranians despite the U.S. disagreement, and as of starting our collaboration, regarding the current banking conditions, we have covered €2.7 billion of export credits for Iranians.”

During the meeting, ICCIMA head for his turn, said that under the new conditions, Iranian government has expansion of trade bonds with other countries, specifically European ones, on its agenda and accordingly, the Iranian private sector has started its activities in this regard.

TEHRAN – Saeid Khoshrou, director of international affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said with oil prices near $60 per barrel Iran would be a great place for oil investment.

In an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, the official said that currently, Iran's cost of production on average is around $10 per barrel and considering the ratio between Iran's oil reserves and production capacity the country is a good prospect for investors.

"If you take a look at the reserve and the production ... this ratio itself gives the signal (that) it is a good place to put money and invest on it," he stated.

Khoshrou further noted that low, fluctuating prices in the oil market will push the investors back, but with prices hovering near $60, lots of investors will be able to invest in developing oil fields.

"I think something around $60 would stabilize the market….it is good enough to attract investors to the field, especially in the Middle East," he said.

According to the official, in line with OPEC production quota, Iran is currently producing around 3.8 million barrels per day while the country has the capacity of producing around four million barrels per day.

Iran's energy exports suffered previously under Western-imposed sanctions. Those sanctions were lifted earlier in 2016, allowing the OPEC producer to reclaim its share in the international energy markets.

The lifting of the sanctions, along with Iran's low cost of production and untapped energy reserves, make the country a potentially attractive investment destination.

TEHRAN - Iraq will soon sign a deal with Iran to jointly invest in two oil fields, Bloomberg quoted Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi as saying on Sunday at a news conference in Baghdad.

Earlier in July, the Iraqi minister held a meeting in Tehran with his Iranian counterpart Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, to discuss several issues of common interest including oil and gas fields that border both countries and cooperation on gas, energy, investment, infrastructure, and training.

In the meeting al-Luaibi had said that Iran and Iraq will sign an agreement in the current year or the next year on producing oil from two joint fields.

EF/MA

TEHRAN – Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said although OPEC’s compliance with the deal to reduce output has been acceptable some changes are needed if participants seek to balance the market.

“Firstly, all members should commit 100 percent to the production cut agreement and secondly, the production level of Nigeria and Libya should be brought into consideration,” Shana quoted the minister as saying.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC producers have cut production by about 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) since the beginning of 2017.

Oil prices have risen by 15 percent in the past three months.
Participants have been considering extending the deal beyond the end of March 2018 when it is due to expire.

OPEC members Libya and Nigeria have been exempted from supply curbs as their oil industries recover from years of unrest.

OPEC also let Iran have a small output increase so it could recover market share lost while under Western sanctions.

TEHRAN – Iran will maintain its crude oil and condensate exports at around 2.6 million barrels per day for the rest of 2017, Reuters reported on Monday quoting a senior official in National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

“Iran’s crude exports won’t be affected by Donald Trump’s intensifying offensive against the country,” Saied Khoshrou, director of international affairs at NIOC said.

According to the official, Iran is currently shipping a combined 2.6 million barrels a day of crude and condensate, and expects to export more at the end of 2017.

The country is “not worried” about its ability to send cargoes overseas to Asia and Europe despite rising tensions with the U.S., he said in an interview in Singapore.

While the recent rhetoric from the U.S. may make “some investors worried about the future,” refinery customers have a need for Iranian crude and “there is no document from the United Nations that forces them not to work with Iran,” Khoshrou noted.

Earlier this month Reuters reported that Shipments of condensate from Iran will be dented by a “technical problem” at the South Pars field, with maintenance expected to take 1-2 months to complete.

Exports of condensate are expected to fall to about 450,000 bpd after the maintenance, from an average of 550,000 bpd over the last 15 months, the report said.

TEHRAN – Iranian gas condensate exports to Asia are expected to remain strong for the rest of the year as South Korea eyes 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) of South Pars condensate in Q4, Platts quoted two sources with close knowledge of Iran-South Korea term deals.

According to the report, Hanwha Total Petrochemicals has been consistently receiving 100,000-120,000 b/d of South Pars condensate to date this year, and the growing popularity of U.S. Eagle Ford condensate is unlikely to alter South Korea's preference for Iranian supply.

"U.S. condensate is hot property this year but, so what? South Pars is still cheaper delivered and the sheer volume can never be matched," the Seoul-based source said.

Iran has shipped more than 500,000 bpd of ultra-light crude to Asia in 2017.

Most of Asian end-users eye naphtha-rich Iranian condensate for its competitive price since South Pars condensate still seen cheaper than rival Qatari grades.

Regional condensate traders said other major North Asian end-users with term purchase agreements, including South Korea's SK Innovation and Hyundai Chemical and Japan's JXTG, may continue to take at least one VLCC each of South Pars every month until the expiry of their 2017 supply contracts.

Iran's return to the international market after the lifting of economic sanctions in early 2016 was welcomed by various North Asian end-users, and condensate trade flows between Tehran and the Far East will likely remain robust, setting aside any potential supply disruption risks stemming from the recent U.S.-Iran diplomatic tension for now, regional condensate traders said.

Tehran (ISNA) - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned that Iran will stand on its "honorable and dignified positions" regarding its nuclear accord with the P5+1 group of countries and respond to any "wrong" move.

“The Iranian nation has stood firmly and any wrong move by the hegemonic system on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will draw a reaction from the Islamic Republic,” the Leader said at a graduation ceremony of Iran's police cadets in Tehran on Sunday.

Referring to American officials’ “brazen and shameless” measures with regard to the JCPOA, the Leader said, “They show one wickedness and one mischief with regard to this issue every day, which proves that what our honorable Imam [Khomeini] said about America being the Great Satan is true and the regime of the United States of America is really the most evil of devils.”

OSLO (Reuters) - Norway’s Scatec Solar is in talks to build its first solar power plants in Iran, its chief executive told Reuters, joining a wave of foreign energy firms looking to invest in the oil major.

The Oslo-listed firm which builds and operates solar power plants worldwide, wants to generate 120 megawatts of power in Iran, rising to 500 MW later.

“I wouldn’t like to say by when we expect a signed deal but we are actively working on it,” CEO Raymond Carlsen said in an interview.

The initial project under discussion would cost $120 million per 100 MW installed, he said, or roughly $132 million.

Iran’s firms and 80 million inhabitants are heavily reliant on natural gas and oil to generate power. However, air pollution is helping drive Iranian interest in expanding renewable energy capacity.

Iran’s installed solar energy capacity is currently 53 MW, according to Iranian energy ministry data, but 76 firms have signed deals to study building an extra 932 MW of capacity.

Foreign energy companies are stepping up investment in Iran following the lifting of international sanctions after the signing of a 2015 nuclear deal.

Tehran (ISNA) - The annual conference of the United Nations General Assembly is a good opportunity to make our people's voice heard in the world community, the Iranian president stressed.

Before leaving Tehran to New York to attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the annual conference is a good opportunity to make the Iranian people’s voice heard in the world and dispel the probable doubts of public opinion of United States and the West.

“Along with the speech at the UN General Assembly, we will hold meetings with US media directors, American politicians and the officials of American Think Tanks, American Islamic leaders and Iranian residents of the United States and the  in all these meetings, issues that are needed will be raised.” he added.

"They advertise 353 days a year against Iran and 2 or 3 days it's our turn to announce our positions. Unfortunately, global propaganda against Islamic countries especially Iran is far from the reality, "he added.

Rouhani announced that during the visit, he will hold bilateral meetings with heads of states such as Belgium, Sweden, Austria, France, Great Britain, Japan, Pakistan, South Africa and Bolivia.

"During these meetings, we will discuss bilateral relations, regional issues, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as JCPOA and issues related to other parts of the world such as Myanmar," he said.

Tehran (ISNA) - The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council held a meeting with the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives, discussing the ways to expand the level of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Referring to Iran’s readiness for expanding the scope of cooperation in areas of economy, politics, culture, and security with European countries especially Belgium, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said, “The Parliaments of the two countries can play a very effective role in paving the way for tapping the huge potential of investment opportunities in Iran, in the areas of energy, technology, and knowledge based economy”.

“The recent days’ event in Europe indicated that instrumental approach of some countries to terrorism in Iraq and Syria has led to spread of uncontrollable horrific phenomenon to the heart of Europe,” warned the Iranian senior official blaming westerners and some regional states for arming, equipping, training, and developing terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq.

“The threatening literature of American political and security officials against Iran not only has no impact on Tehran's principled policies on the region, enhancing the conventional defense capabilities and continued support for the nations which are oppressed by the arrogance system but also exposes the real bellicose approach of this country to the public opinion of the world,” he added.

He also noted that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action known as JCPOA is an international document approved by the UNSC which mandates all sides’ compliance with it and protection against unwise, extremist, and illegal measures which undermine it.

The President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives Siegfried Bracke, for his part, underlined that with activation of the huge potentials of cooperation between Iran and Belgium a new chapter will be opened in the bilateral relations of the two countries in the areas of mutual interests.

He also offered thanks to Tehran for all the measures taken against terrorism saying that, “Iran is the stabilizing element in the region playing a bold role in fighting terrorism”.

Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian President has met the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium in Tehran on Saturday.

In the meeting with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium Siegfried Bracke , Iranian President Hassan Rouhani described Iran-Belgium relations long-standing and positive and said that development of ties in various fields, particularly if economic fields, is beneficial to both nations.

"The post-JCPOA atmosphere can be a great opportunity for deepening economic ties between Iran and the EU members," he added.

"Iran is willing to develop ties with the European Union members and, without a doubt, the two sides can make the best use of the current conditions to develop relations to serve the national interests of the nations," Mr. Rouhani went on to say.

"In the previous administration's term of office, we attempted to settle issues and improve Iran's relations with the world and in the new term, we are attempting to make the best use of the atmosphere provided in the previous administration to serve the interests of our nation," said Rouhani expressing hope that friend countries such as Belgium work more effectively for promoting economic ties and activating the private sectors.

On the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the necessity for both sides to live by their commitments, he said: "Iran and P5+1 could reach an agreement in a very important issue named the nuclear issue and this was one of the greatest achievements of the negotiation table in a very complicated issues that can serve as a model for settling other complicated regional and global issues".

"We believe the only body that can announce Iran's commitment to the JCPOA is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), based on reports of which the Islamic Republic of Iran has lived up to all its commitments stated in the JCPOA," Rouhani added, voicing the expectation that the other side completely live up to its commitments made within the framework of the JCPOA.

Referring to US non-compliance with the commitments made in the JCPOA, he said: "We expect that the EU live up to its commitments and also put pressure on the United States to live up to its commitments".

On the sensitive conditions of the region and the world and the scourge of terrorism, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran added: "Terrorist acts in Tehran and Brussels means that the two countries have a common enemy in this field and it is essential that they cooperate with each other in dealing with this problem".

At the same meeting, Siegfried Bracke also said: "Belgium is determined to develop bilateral relations with Iran and contribute to the development of Iran's multilateral ties with the EU".

Stressing that his country attaches great weight to its ties with Iran, he said: "We believe that the great opportunity of the JCPOA must be made the best use of, especially in the field of trade and economy".

"JCPOA is very important not only for Iran, but also for Belgium and the EU and we will do our best to make sure that the European Union lives up to its commitments".

Iran plays an important role in the region, especially in political and strategic fields, he said, adding: "Cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran is beneficial to all countries that are combatting terrorism".

"As a victim of terrorism, Belgium is determined to have closer cooperation with Iran in this regard," Bracke went on to say.

Tehran (ISNA) – A senior scientist at Tuft University emphasized that science is an instrument for promoting peace in the world.

“My purpose in multiple visits to Iran is not only making scientific contact with scientists which has become a continuous process for me, but also helping Americans and Iranians to better understand each other, because through this way peace can be developed between the two countries,” the senior scientist at Tufts University Dr Angelo Azzi said in an exclusive interview with ISNA.

He made the remarks on the sideline of the first International Congress of " Nutrition: from Laboratory Research to Clinical Studies" (NLRCS) in Mashhad.

“I want to show Iranian that Americans are not devil and I will show Americans that Iranians are very nice,” Dr Angelo Azzi said.

“Science in Iran has a long history but recently due to a number of political factors, Iran has been isolated even in terms of science and communication so its scientists have been left a little bit alone,” he added.

“I’ve traveled to Iran many times and the reason to come back here is that I like Iran, not particular the city but the people. Iranians are incredibly hospitable, clever and friendly people,” the scientist went on to say.

“I also want to help to a country which has a great potential to fully develop and to give the possibility to young Iranian scientists to find a proper job. So far, I have helped four Iranian students to find a good place for studying abroad which one of them is currently an associate professor at Harvard University and the other one is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Milan, Italy,’’Dr. Azzi explained.

The purpose of the NLRCS is to bring together cellular and molecular researchers, nutritionists, physicians, experts in food and health and other specialists to discuss the challenges of the interplay between Nutrition Sciences and medical intervention in all age group. The meeting tried the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the different disciplines for basic research and clinical interdisciplinary collaborations focusing on nutrition and health issues.

“The responsibility for informing society about nutritional habits lies with science, not industry. But because of some economic aspects, the industry sometimes tells people what is good for them and what they should eat or what they should not eat. But in the meantime, scientists and academics need to play their role and advise industry employees to improve the quality of their products for the health of the community.

Professor Angelo Azzi is also the editor-in-chief of Molecular Aspects of Medicine journal and his researches focus on the molecular function of tocopherols and carotenoids.

China's CITIC Group has signed an agreement with five Iranian banks to provide a credit line of $10 billion for Iran's infrastructure projects.China’s CITIC Group has signed an agreement with five Iranian banks to provide a credit line of $10 billion for Iran’s infrastructure projects.

China has signed an agreement with Iran to provide a credit line of $10 billion for its infrastructure projects – what is seen as the biggest economic deal between the two countries after the removal of sanctions against the Islamic Republic in 2016.

The agreement was signed between China’s CITIC Group Corporation and a consortium of Iranian banks that included Bank of Industry and Mine, Refah Bank, Parsian Bank, Bank Pasargad and Export Development Bank of Iran.

Based on it, CITIC would provide loans to the Iranian banks to fund projects in areas such as energy, natural environment, transportation and the management of water resources.

Valiollah Seif, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) who oversaw the signing of the agreement, was quoted by media as saying that the Iranian banks could start receiving loans from CITIC as early as October.

Seif emphasized that the CBI had shown “extensive flexibilities” toward CITIC in sealing the agreement. He added that this was based on the bank’s history of positive cooperation with the Islamic Republic without elaborating what those flexibilities constituted.

The Beijing-based CITIC Group Corporation, formerly the China International Trust and Investment Corporation, is a state-owned investment company established in 1979. It now owns 44 subsidiaries, including China CITIC Bank, CITIC Holding, CITIC Trust Co. and CITIC Merchant Co. Ltd in China, Hong Kong, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Iran media last September quoted a CITIC official as saying that the enterprise was considering to provide Iran with $10 billion of financing, mostly in the country’s steel, copper and coal projects.

The official, identified as Zhou Yafang by the English-language newspaper the Financial Tribune, added that the Chinese government was expected to issue the required permits by the end of 2016 and that the financing process would start in 2017.

Zhou had also emphasized that the financing is fully backed by China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation known as Sinosure.

Iran’s Kish Airline has announced an ambitious plan to purchase over a dozen new planes from global aviation giant Airbus and Boeing.

Kish Airline CEO Mohammad Taqi Jadidi was quoted by the domestic media that the plan envisaged buying 10 planes from Boeing and 6 more from Airbus.

Jadidi told Iran’s IRNA news agency that the new Airbus planes would be added to his company’s fleet before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March 2018).

He added that Boeing planes would be purchased in the next Iranian year.

Nevertheless, the official did not specify which specific models the purchases would involve.

Kish Airline belongs to Kish Free Zone Organization and currently has 14 planes, including 2 Airbus-320, 2 Airbus-321, seven MD planes and 3 Fokker-100 planes, IRNA added in its report.

Airbus has already sealed deals to sell a total of 173 new aircraft to Iranian airlines with a collective value of tens of billions of dollars.

On the same front, Boeing had accrued orders and options for 140 planes, while the smaller European turboprop-maker ATR attracted orders and options for 40 aircraft.

Iran Air – the country’s national flag-carrier airline – appears to be the most active buyer of new planes. The company would buy a total of 220 new planes from Airbus, Boeing and ATR, covering both wide and narrow-bodied jets as well as turboprops. Airbus and ATR made their first deliveries of several planes over the past few months but Boeing deliveries would start in 2018.

Among the country’s smaller carriers, Iran Aseman Airlines would buy 30 new Boeing 737 Max 8 jets, with options for 30 more.

Iran Airtour would also purchase 45 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

And Zagros Airlines would acquire 28 Airbus aircraft, including 20 of its A320neo model and eight of its larger A330neo.

Iran says international air traffic over its skies has reached above 1,400 planes per day in what is believed to be a result of growing confidence in the country’s safe airspace.

Iran says at least 1,400 planes cross its skies everyday – an announcement that a top military official in Tehran says is a proof of the country’s airspace security for regional and transregional airliners.

“Today, Iran has been chosen [by airliners] as the safest air corridor in the Middle East,” Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, the commander of Iran’s Air Defense Force, was quoted as saying by the domestic media.

The official added that over 700,000 international flights carrying a collective of above 50 million passengers had used Iran’s skies over the past Iranian calendar that started 21 March 2016.

Official figures show around 450 planes crossed Iran’s skies every day in 2014. However, the insurgency that Daesh militants waged in Iraq as well as the conflict in Ukraine pushed the number up to as high as 900 planes per day the next year, marking an increase of 100 percent.

The diplomatic crisis between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and its allies forced the tiny Persian Gulf state to use Iran’s airspace for its international flights.

Accordingly, officials said this introduced an increase of 20 percent in Iran’s air traffic.

The rise in Qatar’s use of Iran’s airspace has also provided the Islamic Republic with extra air transportation fee revenues. To the same effect, the domestic media said Iran was entitled to at least $13 million per month in air traffic fees.

In June, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE closed their airspace to the Qatari planes after they cut diplomatic ties with the country, accusing the latter of supporting terrorism.
