The latest report of CBI on Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows 0.6 percent increase in the month of the Iranian year “Aban” (ending November 20). The inflation rate has advanced 8.6 percent over the last twelve months.
Summary Results of the CPI for Aban (November 20)
The food and beverages index was unchanged in Aban.
The index for tobacco decreased 0.4 percent in Aban, reflecting 0.6 percent decrease in the index for imported cigarettes.
The clothing and footwear index increased 1.3 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the indices for ready to wear clothing by 1.4 percent, footwear 1.5 percent.
The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index went up 1.3 percent which was attributed to the advances of the indices for “rental equivalence of owner occupied houses” by 1.5 percent, “rent of residential houses” 1.4 percent, and maintenance and repair services of the dwelling 0.6 percent.
The furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance index rose 0.5 percent. Increases in the indices for “household appliances” and “goods and services for routine household maintenance” each by 0.7 percent.
The index for health increased 0.5 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the indices for medical, paramedical and dental services by 0.5 percent, appliances and equipment 1.0 percent.
The transport index went up 0.3 percent largely due to the increases in the indices for passenger transport by road by 0.5 percent, operation of personal transport equipment 0.3 percent, and personal transport vehicles by 0.2 percent.
The index for communication rose 0.3 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the index for telephone equipment by 2.9 percent.
The recreation and culture index turned up 0.6 percent, as a result of the increases in the indices for audio-visual, photographic and information processing equipment by 2.1 percent, package holidays 0.9 percent.
The education index advanced 0.5 percent over this month, mostly as a result of the increase in the index for private schools and supplementary courses tuition fees by 1.0 percent.
The index for restaurants and hotels rose 0.4 percent, mainly due to the advances in the indices for “food away from home” by 0.4 percent, “catering services” 0.6 percent, and accommodation services 0.2 percent.
The miscellaneous goods and services index increased 0.5 percent in this month. Increases in the indices for nursery school tuition fees by 11.4 percent, personal care 0.4 percent, and personal effects 0.2 percent were the major reasons for this rise.
