"Georgia and Iran have many commonalities and they should expand their cooperation in different fields," President Margvelashvili said.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on regional developments.
Zarif also met Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and also attended joint economy meeting, and said that the most important axes for cooperation are transit, industry, education and cooperation in international organizations and regional issues.
Zarif embarked on a tour of three countries of Turkmenistan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of his counterparts.
Zarif met with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and a number of senior officials of Turkmenistan on Monday and discussed development of bilateral ties with them.
In relevant remarks on Tuesday, the Georgian prime minister underlined his country's willingness to further expand relations and cooperation with Iran in all arenas.
"Your visit and negotiations are highly important to us and we are ready for the development of cooperation in all fields," Kvirikashvili said in a meeting with Zarif in Tbilisi.
He also underscored the necessity for normalization of all banking mechanisms between the two countries, and called for the enhancement of economic ties.
Zarif, for his part, pointed to the different areas existing for cooperation between the two countries, and said, "We are ready for cooperation in the banking, agriculture, water, construction, technology and tourism sectors."
