Managing Director of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) Seyed Nureddin Shahnazizadeh said oil recovery from South Azadegan will rise from the current 45 thousand barrels per day to 85 thousand by late April and later to 110 thousand by late June.
He pointed to the coordination between the Ministry of Petroleum and other provincial organizations in early March saying “in a bid to produce oil at oil fields in West Karoun region in southwestern Iran, Hurolazim Pond had been dried up due to oil well drillings by the previous government while the incumbent government sought to revive the pond.”
The official further touched upon the measures taken to restore Hurolazim Pond saying “early production has begun from Azadegan and Yaran fields the output level of which will hopefully exceed 500 thousand barrels of crude oil per day by Late June.
Shahnazizadeh also referred to the rise in production level of South Yaran field noting that its output will climb to 10 thousand barrels by late June.
Given output levels of North Azadegan (75k bpd), Yadavaran (110k bpd), Yaran (30k bpd) and Darkhoin (260-270k bpd), the aggregate total of crude production in West Karoun region will soar to 500 thousand barrels per day by that time.
He said the oil fields west of Karoun were aimed to produce 1.2 million barrels per day concluding “the envisage figure will be realized through ongoing plans especially in Azadegan and Yadavaran oilfields.”
