The MoU was signed between Head of Iran's Veterinary Organization Mehdi Khalai and Norway Chief Veterinary Officer Kristina Landsverk in Oslo on Wednesday.
Iranian Ambassador to Oslo Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh was also present in the signing ceremony.
The MoU calls for control and prevention of seafood diseases and promotion of protective and monitoring system for the same purpose.
It also allows the Iranian and Norwegian research and scientific centers to have cooperation in prevention and elimination of the diseases as well as issuing veterinary health certificates.
As per the MoU, the two sides will upgrade cooperation within framework of the World Animal Health Organization’s international regulations.
In relevant remarks in late February, Norwegian Envoy in Iran John Mikal Kvistad called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Oslo.
"By overcoming the present challenges, Tehran and Oslo should prepare the grounds for the return of the economic boom between the two countries to the pre-sanctions era," Kvistad said, addressing a conference themed 'Cooperation Development and Technology of Upstream Sector of Oil and Gas of Iran and Norway'.
The Norwegian envoy expressed the hope that by finalization of new model of oil contracts in Iran, bilateral cooperation could expand noticeably.
The Norwegian envoy reminded his country’s readiness to help for banking cooperation with Iran, and said, "To this end, it needs signing final agreements, beyond current memorandum of understandings."
