"We are eager to broaden our cooperation with Iran in road, air and sea transportations," Pildegovics said in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Monday.
He reiterated that Latvian companies are willing to broaden cooperation with Iran mainly in land transportation, specially within the framework of North-South corridor.
"Visits of the European Union officials to Iran indicate that the country enjoys huge potentials for the expansion of cooperation with Europe," Pildegovics added.
In a relevant development in April 2014, Zarif underlined that Tehran is resolved to broaden its relations with Riga.
"There is a possibility for the expansion of the relations (with Latvia) in different political, economic and cultural fields," the Iranian foreign minister said at a joint press conference with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics.
Zarif pointed to Latvia's upcoming role as the next rotating president of the European Union, and said, "The grounds have been prepared for mutual cooperation between the two countries in all areas."
