During the meeting in Oslo on Tuesday, Habibollahzadeh and Helgesen discussed ways to enhance environmental relations between the two countries at bilateral and international levels.
"As energy-rich countries, Iran and Norway, can share their experiences to decrease the pollution caused by oil and natural gas activities and cooperate on cutting down the level of carbon dioxide emissions as well," Helgesen said that.
The Iranian envoy, for his part, said that the climate issues tend to have global and transnational dimensions.
Habibollahzadeh expressed Iran’s readiness to engage in joint scientific research projects with environmental institutes of Norway.
In relevant remarks in late February, Norwegian Envoy in Iran John Mikal Kvistad called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation between Tehran and Oslo.
"By overcoming the present challenges, Tehran and Oslo should prepare the grounds for the return of the economic boom between the two countries to the pre-sanctions era," Kvistad said, addressing a conference themed 'Cooperation Development and Technology of Upstream Sector of Oil and Gas of Iran and Norway'.
The Norwegian envoy expressed the hope that by finalization of new model of oil contracts in Iran, bilateral cooperation could expand noticeably.
The Norwegian envoy reminded his country’s readiness to help for banking cooperation with Iran, and said, "To this end, it needs signing final agreements, beyond current memorandum of understandings."
