Iran's total petrochemical production capacity rose from 55.7 mt/y in 2012 to 64.1 mt/y in 2016.
Marziyeh Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, said 20 petrochemical projects became operational during Mr. Rouhani's president which added 7.5 million tons to the country's total annual petrochemical production capacity.
Shahdaei said 50 petrochemical projects are being constructed in Iran with 41.3 million tons of annual production capacity.
The official said NPC has defined 30 projects to be completed under the 6th development plan that is set to be set in motion next calendar year starting on March 21.
She said another 22 projects with 37.1 million tons of production capacity have also been defined by NPC which will be completed by the end of the 7th Development Plant of the country.
