"Tehran and Dhaka can expand their mutual cooperation," Larijani said in a meeting with Bangladesh's Ambassador to Tehran Majibur Rahman Bhuiyan in the Iranian capital on Monday.
The Iranian parliament speaker reiterated that Iran and Bangladesh have enjoyed friendly and improving relations throughout the history, and said, "This trend of increasing relations should not be stopped.”
The Bangladeshi ambassador, for his part, voiced Dhaka’s willingness to expand political, economic and parliamentarian relations with Iran, and said, "My government supports any measures in this regard."
"Private sector and businessmen in Bangladesh strongly welcome trade ties with Iran,” he said.
In relevant remarks in October, Bangladeshi Industry Minister Amir Hossein Amu in a meeting with a delegation of Isfahan Chamber of Commerce called for the expansion of economic relations with Iran.
"Bangladesh government seeks to broaden economic ties with Iran," Hossein Amu said.
The Bangladeshi industry minister underlined that his government is resolved to expand all-out relations with Tehran.
"Dhaka can broaden scope of economic cooperation with Tehran on import of fertilizers, quake-resistant steel products and bitumen," he said.
Hossein Amu said that Bangladesh can help Iran in the field of pharmaceutical industry and textile industry.
The Bangladeshi industry minister also called for launching of Iran-Bangladesh joint economic commission and chamber of commerce.
