"Last year, $70mln of exports were carried out in Chabahar free zone and we had focused on the downstream petrochemical industries and packaging industries," Kordi told reporters in a press conference on Sunday.
He predicted that in the current year, exports of goods from Chabahar will increase 2.5 times compared with the previous year.
In relevant remarks earlier this month, Kordi announced that the number of foreign companies that have registered in Chabahar Free Trade Zone over the past two years has increased considerably.
"A total of 63 firms from different world countries had been registered Chabahar Free Zone since the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)," Kordi said.
The official pointed to Chabahar's important role in job creation, and said, "240 companies have been established in the zone over past to years."
