He made the remarks in the Iran-Indonesia economic forum on Wednesday.
The official referred to Iran and Indonesia membership in the international bodies and their support for each other and said Iran attaches importance to its relations with Indonesia as the biggest economic power in the Islamic World.
Iran and Indonesia can be good trade partners and supply each other, Shafei noted.
He referred to Indonesia speedy economic progress and the countries’ thirst for energy and said Iran is the safest option to supply Indonesia energy needs.
Shafei also called for Iran-Indonesia joint venture in fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, food industry and transit.
He underlined execution of Iran-Indonesia agreement for building a refinery in Indonesia’s western provinces of Banten and West Java.
Shafei referred to current volume of non-oil trade exchange between the two countries which stands at 300 million dollars and called for promotion of this volume to 2 billion dollars.
Iran and Indonesia on Wednesday signed five cooperation documents in various fields including energy.
Iranian Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian and Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan signed a deal to promote cooperation in fields of electricity and renewable energies.
